Holguín baseball team to defend crown vs Sagua de Tánamo

The team Cafetaleros of Sagua de Tánamo gave no truce to the Piratas of Gibara and defeated them for the third straight time, this time as visitors 4×2 at Jorge Martín Magariño stadium in the nicknamed Villa Blanca, to become the first finalist of the XLVI Provincial Baseball Series in Holguín.

For their part, the Sultanes of Holguín won the right to defend their crown by defeating the squad of Alegres de Mayarí, also as visitors, at Emilio Gómez Bermúdez stadium to dominate the Play Off 3-1.

The victory of  Sagua de Tanamo (4×2), with four hits, one less than their rivals, in a game without errors won by reliever Orleydis Cuba, who had the offensive support of Yorlis Bravo, (2-3) and two runs batted in. The setback went to Yadier Bornot.

Meanwhile, the Sultanes of Holguin, supported by effective reliever Roinier Guerrero, initially won 6×4, in a game where the defense played cleanly, each team fired seven hits and Yolexis Guzmán was unsuccessful. On offense, Andry Agüero stood out for the winners.

The victory that gave the finalist ticket to the Sultanes of Holguin was 9×2, where the team produced 11 hits and failed twice on defense for five hits and one error for the defeated team.

Steven Rodríguez had a successful start, with two runs allowed in five and one-third innings, and was supported offensively by Luis Miguel Santiesteban and Richard Oliva, both 2-3 and one run batted in, along with Andry Agüero, (1-2) and two runs batted in at the plate. The setback went to Yordanis Bernal.

It has not yet been decided when the final will begin, but it will be played at the José Abreu de Sagua, a best-of-five in three, with a 2-2-3 structure, and with doubleheaders in the first two days.
