Cachorros lose their third sub-series in national baseball

The inopportune offense of the Cachorros of Holguín, capable of hitting seven hits, being walked five times, three dead balls and leaving eleven men on base, spoiled their chances of victory against the Indios of Guantánamo, who, with a 4×3 score, won their fourth victory in the particular match in the 63rd season of the national baseball.

Holguin starter José Manuel Rivas (0-1) allowed six hits and four runs in the first two innings, from then on until leaving the box in the seventh with one out on the board, he only allowed two batters to reach the bases, one by dead ball and the other one walked, while striking two opponents.

In fifteen innings of work, rookie Rivas had a 3.00 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, with four strikeouts and three walks.

Ramiro Rodríguez, who pitched 2 ⅔ innings without allowing runs and only two hits, in addition to striking out three batters, committing a wild pitch and hitting a man, was effective, although he was not rewarded for his efforts.

In summary, Guantánamo Indios scored four runs, produced eight hits and played without errors, to three hits, seven hits and one error for the Holguín Cachorros.

Guantanamo’s starter Roilán Portuondo could not get the win, because when he left the box with a 3×1 lead, there was one out left to finish the five innings of work.

The victory went for the first reliever Andiovis Baró (1-0) who in 1 ⅔ chapters left Holguin offense scoreless, which gave only two hits, received one ticket and one ball.

Luis Enrique Castillo earned his first save by working the ninth inning with only one hit allowed, the second home run of the season for Edilse Silva, who went 5-3, and his 203rd of his life. For the winners, Rodolfo Rodríguez went 3-2 with two runs batted in.
