ALBA-TCP has proven its viability for and from the South

Cuba will always be present in ALBA-TCP because, over blockades and difficulties decreed by empires and mercilessly imposed by the deeply unjust international order, our Alliance has proven how and how much can be done from the South.

These were the words of Miguel Díaz-Canel, speaking at the 23rd Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), which is taking place this Wednesday in Caracas.

The head of state highlighted solidarity and cooperation as the hallmarks of the Alliance, a winner over the selfish pragmatism that only bets on profits and the market, he said.

In his speech, the head of state affirmed that the Cuban people will continue the struggle against the blockade until the U.S. government lifts this cruel, immoral and unjustifiable policy.

Our people deserve to live in peace and, under equal conditions, to demonstrate all that we would be capable of advancing and building Socialism, he said.

The Cuban president emphasized as invariable the commitment to integration and unity, as well as the tireless work for an ALBA of victories, peace, solidarity and cooperation.

Along with Miguel Diaz-Canel and host Nicolás Maduro, presidents Daniel Ortega and Luis Arce, of Nicaragua and Bolivia, respectively, and heads of government Gaston Browne, of Antigua and Barbuda; Ralph Gonsalves, of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; Roosevelt Skerrit, Dominica, and Phillip J. Pierre, of Saint Lucia, as well as the foreign minister of Grenada, Joseph Andall and the ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Norgen Wilson, are also present at the summit.

The integrationist bloc was founded in 2004 by the then presidents of Cuba and Venezuela, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez.
