New air route between Venezuela and Holguín

The Venezuelan airline Rutaca inaugurated today a new commercial route to link Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, Venezuela, with Frank País International Air Terminal in the eastern province of Holguín, Cuba.

This charter flight will have two weekly frequencies, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and will be a great opportunity to connect the South American nation with this territory in the eastern part of the island, known for its intense cultural life, beautiful natural landscapes and paradisiacal beaches.

The trip is an opportunity for more than 60 tourism professionals from 38 of the main travel agencies in Venezuela and 20 press workers to get to know the unique experience and enjoy the attractions of the region, for subsequent marketing of this expanding destination.

The new air route will also serve to market the tourist destination of the historic and attractive province of Santiago de Cuba.

This FAM Group (familiarization trip) is organized by the International Group of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies, Havanatur, recognized as a leader in the promotion and commercialization of tourist products of the Caribbean nation.

The Panama-based travel agency Belraysa Tours & Travel Group S.A., which specializes in Cuba and offers a wide range of services, including health tourism, participation in international events and congresses, fairs and exhibitions and recreational trips, among others.

The general manager of Belraysa Tours, Jorge Guerra, told the press that the purpose of the flight is to achieve a “tourist exchange between both countries”, since Holguín is one of the eastern Cuban provinces that has the Guardalavaca tourist center, of “great quality, importance and paradisiacal beaches”.

He pointed out that from that territory it is possible to reach in two hours the historic city of Santiago de Cuba, known as the Cradle of the Revolution, where the museum of the Moncada Barracks is located as one of the most important monuments of the territory and the country.

Guerra indicated that the population of Holguin, Santiago de Cuba and other nearby places will be able to do tourism in Venezuela, since this flight will allow the exchange of passengers from one destination to another, which will favor the development of the so-called smokeless industry in both nations.

He specified that the airline responsible for the flights will be the Venezuelan Rutaca, which will fly Tuesdays and Fridays from the international airport of Maiquetía, La Guaira state, to Las Piedras, Falcón state, and will end at the Frank País air terminal in Holguín.

Regarding Cuban tourism in Venezuela, the general manager of Belraysa Tours & Travel Group S.A. expressed that they intend to increase the purchase modality in the commercial zone of Punto Fijo, in the tourist and vacation destination of Margarita Island, in addition to developing historical tourism in the city of Caracas.

He emphasized that with this flight a “great air connectivity” is increased from Venezuela to the west and east of Cuba, through the airlines Conviasa, Estelar and Rutaca.
