While I talk to entrepreneur Esteban Sanchez, leader of the renowned mini-industry Productos del Valle (Pvallma), his life partner, Yurisleydis Quevedo, remains by his side, caressing him with her eyes. When he notices this detail, he smiles, while he reminds me of Marti’s concept that “the abnegation of women obliges men to virtue“.
They make a beautiful couple, not only because of their physical appearance, the sympathy and confidence that distinguishes them, but also because of the way they share time, space, dreams, interests and achievements, in an atmosphere of complete family and work harmony, demonstrating that love is the excuse of life and its greatest reward.
As Esteban was getting ready to pay tribute to his wife and coworkers for International Women’s Day, this journalist felt the need to write a few lines about this beautiful and simple woman, who smiles and brings so much happiness to those who could make headlines in all the media, for the realization of his dreams -with his feet on the ground, his eyes set on his country and the people- thanks to the intelligence and tenacity that characterize him, the good use of the productive chain and the solidary support of some entities.
Visits to mini industry, Holguín
He has grown as a person and as a small businessman in Mayabe, where he built his home a few meters from the mini-industry, whose creation process, productive organization and results attract the attention of visitors and consumers.
A woman of integrity, smile, defender of traditions and culture
As an economics technician, Yurisleydis is in charge of accounting at the small factory, using her knowledge and experience acquired at Pedro Rogena Camayd Credit and Service Cooperative, where she held the same position at the age of 18, when she was responsible for contracting processes, conciliation with companies, mainly dairy products, as well as banking procedures.
She also recognizes the knowledge acquired previously during the social service in the Holguin office of the National Labor Inspection Office and the courses received, including one on Versat Sarasola, consisting of an accounting management system.
Those precedents positively influence her management as an economist of the mini industry, for which she feels much attachment, but she cannot disregard the time she remained in the Cooperative, to which she devoted herself completely, supported the workers and was general secretary of the cell the Young Communist League, later obtaining the militancy of the Communist Party of Cuba.
Light is a kind of spirit that springs from the sun in the sky and from the woman on earth; from the moment she is born, a woman carries a star on her forehead and prepares herself in life to be on a par with men, because in Cuba, both enjoy equal duties and rights.
In the case of Yurisleydis, she was born and grew up in direct contact with nature, under the protection of her loving mother, Yoleidis, who passed on to her the secrets of good cooking; and her father, Ramón Arnaldo, a seasoned cattle rancher of Pedro Rogena cooperative, whom she accompanied in the handling and feeding of the animals. From both of them she acquired values that have always accompanied her, such as humility, seriousness and sense of responsibility.
She speaks with pride of the immense love she feels for her parents and grandparents; for her siblings, Alejandro and Daimara, as well as for her little girls, Patricia and Yisel, aged five and eight, respectively.
In other words, Yurisleydis has enough reasons to smile and be a very happy woman and because she also loves traditions, history and culture, for seven years she has been part of the Verbenas de Güirabito community project (a community named after an aborigine who settled in those lands), which promotes the rescue of cultural traditions and the conservation of the archaeological heritage, with the broad participation of children and young people.

Esteban is right to love so much the partner of his life, with whom he smiles and shares the upbringing of two beautiful daughters, the consolidated and rising work of his mini-industry, and the home facilities they have created with so much love and care.
