Located on the central boulevard of Libertad Street, between Martí and Luz y Caballero, in the Cuban City of the Parks, this local development project will provide a variety of services using renewable energies.

Róger Luis Guerrero Peña, Telecommunications engineer and creator of the project, informed ACN that the premises have 152 solar panels that generate 38 kW, which have been incorporated to the city’s electric network until its inauguration.

This contribution will benefit 80 houses during high peak hours and 400 during off-peak hours, although the objective is to reach a total capacity of 78 kW at the end of the installation process of the photovoltaic park, he explained.

Guerrero Peña commented that this facility will be the first in the country to offer a comprehensive range of services based on Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), ranging from entertainment and gastronomic services, with a 12D movie theater and a cyber café, to electronic development, device repair and media commerce, for which digital payment will be used.

He also added that the efforts of several state enterprises and new economic actors, including the Joven Club de Computación, the Empresa de Soluciones Informáticas Xetid, the Copextel Company and the Salva PC and MyTech MSMEs, have been brought together for this purpose.

The future Holguin Technology Center, located in a building built between the 19th and 20th centuries, represents the materialization of the country’s objective of promoting science and innovation and placing them in the hands of the people.
