A group of 20 new electric tricycles, provided by Holguin’s Taxi Agency No. 2, ease the transportation of passengers without damaging the environment in the capital of the northeastern territory.
Julio Coré Garcel, director of the entity specialized in these means, informed Agencia Cubana de Noticias that, with a modest price of 10 pesos, these vehicles have been placed so far in a single route of great affluence of people, the stretch that runs from the Intermunicipal Terminal Las Baleares to the Vocacional José Martí.
With a load capacity of six passengers and an average range of 150 kilometers, they can transport around six thousand passengers daily, which, since their inauguration at the beginning of the month, has benefited around 84 thousand people, he pointed out.
The executive commented that his workers are trained and committed to the important mission of transporting the people of Holguín to their destinations, for which they keep the schedule in piquera from seven in the morning until five in the afternoon.
For the selection of the personnel in charge of the teams, a rigorous verification was carried out at the Labor Directorate, their qualification as drivers was evaluated and medical check-ups and psychometric tests were carried out to help assess who were the best to take on the task, he pointed out.
Coré Garcel added that the institution also has 170 tricycles that use fossil fuel, which favor mobility in six important stretches of the capital municipality for the connection of the three hospitals and the headquarters of the University of Holguín.
The loading base of these means was one of the 100 social works inaugurated in the province in salute to May Day, among which stand out a Neonatology Room in the Vladimir Lenin University Teaching Hospital and a Microbiology Laboratory in the Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja Pediatric Hospital.
