Radio broadcasters in Holguin debate on management in 2023

The performance in the journalistic work through the different radio spaces, the strengths, weaknesses and work projections of the radio broadcasters in the current stage were topics addressed during the Assembly of Balance of the Radio in Holguin, corresponding to the year 2023.

In the course of this period, in a context marked by many difficulties, the group of Holguin radio broadcasters put into practice initiatives to keep the people informed and entertained with proposals aimed at the different audiences.

The meeting, chaired by Natalia Díaz Rivero, director of the Holguin Radio System, was also attended by Alfonso Noya Gutiérrez, president of the Institute of Information and Social Communication and Yuzaima Cardona, director of Cuban Radio.

During the meeting, workers of the union met to exchange on the quality of programming, the dissemination of the main events of the territory and the transmission of contents in the different platforms with the use of Internet, to satisfy the interests and needs of the listeners.

Several speeches with a critical approach enriched the debate around the report, in order to eradicate deficiencies that threaten the quality of the programs and improve the work to keep Holguin radio stations in the preference of the audience.

The importance of imposing greater creativity, commitment and effort in the face of the technological and personnel deficiencies of the collectives was stressed.

It was also urged to be more critical in the face of problems, to identify problems and involve the people in their solution, in order to materialize actions to reduce the current difficulties in the economic and social framework.

Félix Martínez Pérez, secretary general of the National Union of Culture referred to the challenges for the new stage, making reference to the need to reinforce union work in each of the municipalities of Holguín and highlighted the contribution of this sector in the province’s hosting of the national event for the anniversary of this union.

For her part, Yuzaima Cardona recognized the strength of the radio workers as a bulwark to generate the changes expected in this means of communication, as well as the dedication of the collective to assume the challenge of making a National Festival after 13 years.

At the conclusion of the assembly, projections were drawn up to achieve greater communicative effectiveness, including the development of territorial radio with emphasis on the production of programs in areas of silence or poorly served areas, the planning of training actions for workers, including alliances with training centers, and the renewal of the radio programming designs to ensure a balance between functions and attention to audiences.
