Workers and union leaders decorated in Holguin

Outstanding workers and union leaders in Holguin were decorated today in a ceremony held at Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Calixto García Íñiguez Monument Complex, as part of the commemoration and activities for the World Day of the Proletariat.

During the solemn ceremony, the Jesús Menéndez Medal was awarded to 26 vanguard workers in recognition of their dedication and impulse to the economic and social development of Holguin. All of them belonged to the sugar, health, public administration, sugar and fishing industries.

Likewise, the Lázaro Peña Order was awarded to Eddy Luciano Proenza Lugo, who, with more than 30 years of work experience, works as the manager of the Moda Cubana shop of the Panamericana chain, located in the municipality of Holguín: “It is the greatest recognition for the years of service to the union movement and a motivation to continue working, contributing and reaping greater labor merits”.

Also proposed by the Union of Civilian Defense Workers, Rolando Buscató Jorge, was awarded the III degree of the Lazaro Peña Order, for his commitment in the performance of his duties and his contribution, from all fronts, to consolidate the revolutionary work.

The activity was presided over by Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the PCC in the territory; Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera, governor of the province; Idalmis Serrano Gómez, general secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba in Holguín, representatives of mass organizations and guests.
