Singer Lidis Lamorú, with an extensive discography dedicated mostly to children’s music, is celebrating 30 years of artistic life. Much loved by the Cuban family, this interpreter from Holguin, chose to defend music from her homeland, where she fosters love and nurtures musical art from the earliest ages.

During this summer season, the also known as the “Rosa del Parque” or the “Bride of Holguin”, will tour several municipalities of Holguin, as well as the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Villa Clara.

Throughout her career she has released 10 albums, and both adults and children love her music and her beautiful lyrics, that is her greatest recognition.

With her guitar as her best ally to create with Cuban authenticity diverse musical rhythms and the motivation of having a daughter: Adriana Lorena, who is her greatest pride, Lidis weaves stories, through music, that make children and adults dream. On the occasion of this anniversary we talked to the author of Don Lagartijo.

Your fans are waiting with great expectations for this album that you have been announcing with so much affection, “Luz y Corazón”?

-It is an album for children and with the record company BIS MUSIC in Havana, where I have a special guest: the maestro Frank Fernandez, in the song Luz y Corazón, has a participation at the piano, I think quite significant, not only for my career, but also for me as an artist and as a person.

I believe that children and parents will receive, as a family, a good musical creation, and necessary as well, because it is my heart thanking for 25 years of artistic life. There are 12 songs that have a foreign rhythm and genre but also very Cuban”.

The album also counts with the participation of the Diminuto Choir, directed by Carmen Rosa López, it is a beautiful gift that this artist makes to the Cuban family that during 30 years of artistic life has followed her in all the stages.

-I wanted to express from the bottom of my heart my gratitude to the public that in two and a half generations, two decades and five years have followed my work with great affection; especially to the Cuban people who have not ceased to participate in any of the concerts I have performed. I am fortunate to have performed also to rural areas of our archipelago.”

You have been a singer very much loved by the children and adult people in general, do you feel supported?

-I am privileged to have the privilege of having a Ministry of Education that has made my musical work compulsory in the teaching plans, from preschool to ninth grade. I am also honored to have a group of sisters because they are more than educators of children’s day care centers throughout the country, especially at Mariana de la Torre center, where I recorded the song “Yo lo sé hacer”, which is part of this album and represented the campaign for the 60th anniversary of the creation of children’s circles”.

A very beautiful theme and that also had a wide promotion in the media, why make this theme, precisely?

-I belong to a generation of children who grew up within the embrace of day6 care centers, the most beautiful and human memories of growing up, of knowing the first letters, the first strokes, the first colors I learned, were right out there.

Knowing that we conquered that step in the public arena with this song “Yo lo sé hacer y tener”, that award, filled me with commitment”.

Tell me about this other totally different project “Alma Desnuda”?

-Yes of course, this album was born during the Covid-19 pandemic, “Alma Desnuda”. A work for adults. We have talked about it several times”.

Does Lidis reveals hessoul in this new album?

-Yes, precisely, it is a work where I show my soul, there is also a Lidis as a mother, a woman, a daughter, who is intimate with her partner in a very solid way and at the same time with bachatas, with troubadour songs but also with a touch of merengue, salsa, funk, very Cuban, and with my very particular seal, I am telling the public that I am also this woman who feels, who falls in love, who is passionate, who has a responsibility before life as a mother, as a family and in fact with my own family. ”

They call you the “Rosa del Parque” or the “Bride of Holguin” and is that you have a wonderful relationship with this city and its people, I have been in many of your concerts and in them you invite people to your home, do you give the address where you live?

-My gratitude to the people is everlasting, the sense of belonging that I have here in my city is immense, the responsibility towards my country and the commitment that comes with it is very important, because I have been very much embraced by the authorities, both political and cultural. I believe that the way to respond, the way I have to give them a little more immense gratitude, is through my work and my affection towards the people, and especially towards the children.
