Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today highlighted the work being carried out by Cuban doctors and rescue workers in Venezuela. Where they are participating in rescue and relief efforts for those affected by the devastating earthquakes that struck the country.

Díaz-Canel also assured that the Cuban brigades will remain in Venezuelan territory “for as long as necessary”. To support the recovery and relief efforts for those affected, according to the Presidency’s website.
The head of state expressed, on behalf of the Cuban Party, State, Government, and people, his deepest condolences to the people and Government of Venezuela. As well as his solidarity with the families of the victims.
Also the Cuban delegation that visited the diplomatic headquarters also included the President of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo. The Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero; and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gerardo Peñalver. Who were received by the Venezuelan Ambassador to Cuba, Orlando Maneiro.
According to official figures, the earthquakes of June 24th have so far caused 3,535 deaths and more than 16,700 injuries. In addition to the collapse of 190 buildings and leaving more than 17,000 people homeless.
