The Heroes of July 26 Mechanical Company (Holmeca) in Holguin is making steady progress in its expansion strategy. Materialized in a recent agreement with the Caribbean Electric Vehicles International Economic Association (VEDCA). For the assembly of electric tricycles in C 400 and C 600 variants.
This agreement positions the company in the sustainable mobility sector by 2026. Maximizing previously underutilized facilities and contributing to electrification initiatives with a direct community impact.
Complementing these advances, in December 2025 Holmeca finalized an export to Bolivia—in partnership with Tecnosime. Of a 24/22 harrow and three brush cutters manufactured at its facilities. Consolidating its capacity to supply foreign markets and generate essential foreign currency.
In a context where every source of income is vital, these operations not only replace domestic imports. Also position the company as an active exporter of Cuban agricultural technology.

Initiatives that Project Growth
Holmeca’s agenda extends beyond current commitments and is fueled by a broad portfolio of ongoing projects. All geared toward integration with local and international partners.
Reynaldo Pupo Martínez, general manager, announced the imminent arrival at the port of Santiago de Cuba of 24 disassembled tractors. Financed through a Belarusian loan with a one-year repayment term, ready for local assembly.
Likewise, a collaboration is being prepared with the Chinese firm PICLA for the integration of harvesters for rice, corn, and beans. With a technical visit scheduled for April 2026 that could elevate Holmeca to a national leader in heavy agricultural machinery.
In another area, coordination is progressing with the Spanish company Trecom to import components. For a 28/22 harrow from Brazil, destined for TABACUBA. This import, managed through TRANSIMPORT, expands Holmeca’s product range beyond traditional trailers. These developments reflect a business vision focused on product diversification and strategic openness.
Boosting Territorial Collaborations
Holmeca stands out today for its network of partnerships with micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and non-state actors. Which have become permanent allies that revitalize its capabilities.
With Chapimec, for example, joint production of egg cartons and logistics services is being developed. Utilizing the sandblasting area and the main warehouse. The plan includes a plant with a capacity of 1,000 units per hour. A brigade incentivized by results, and spaces dedicated to raw materials and finished products.
Nuevo Mundo, for its part, operates the welding workshop for packaging and storing Parrandas beer. With plans to incorporate a 14-ton press for larger-scale production.
At the Holguin Science and Technology Park, Holmeca offers sheet metal fabrication and welding services. While also finalizing the lease of carpentry workshops and outdoor areas for the production of alternative fuels.
These synergies transform idle spaces into productive hubs that connect food, energy, and logistics. Other micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) like Dulce Azúcar and Hassan are utilizing workshops for storage. Injecting profitability into underutilized facilities.
Of greater scope is the negotiation with Dragón Negro for mini-food processing plants—dairy, sausages, and bakery products. As well as refrigerated containers, security equipment, showrooms, and promotional printing services, all within Holmeca’s facilities.
Reinvestment from the operational base
The underlying philosophy unites these efforts: faced with financial and supply limitations. Holmeca is committed to collaboration, the exchange of skills, and alliances that ensure operational continuity.
Exports, global contracts, cooperatives, and productive uses of space outline a horizon that goes beyond containment. Repositioning the company at the heart of national production.
In this stage of gradual economic recovery for Cuba, the path forged in the Holguin workshops illustrates the potential of state-owned entities to drive profound changes. Through internal innovation and collaborative networks, maintaining momentum in the face of all obstacles.
