The Tax Administration Office in Holguín (Onat) urges taxpayers to take advantage of bonuses of up to eight percent for those who pay the taxes of the affidavit campaign before February 28.
On January 8, the Tax Declaration and Payment of Taxes Campaign began in Cuba, “which represents one of the most important processes conducted by the Tax Administration and an act of mandatory compliance for taxpayers, including individuals and legal entities.
Mary Ortega Barredo, head of the National Tax Office, commented that Law 164 of the State Budget for this year provides for a set of tax and control adjustments, adjusted to the current conditions of the economy, “which support the increase in income, in order to gradually reduce the fiscal deficit, contribute to macroeconomic stabilization and minimize the evasion and avoidance gaps”.
Onat’s first deputy chief, Belkys Pino Hernández, explained that “only three of the norms announced within the package of tax modifications have an impact on this year’s tax return campaign”. One of them is Resolution 303, which ratifies the fixed tax rate of two percent for the personal income tax of the agricultural sector.
Resolution 304, which adjusts the progressive scale of the Affidavit for personnel receiving bonuses, and Resolution 306 for MSMEs, regarding the obligation of partners to file a sworn statement for the liquidation of dividends, also have an impact. “The rest of the provisions will impact the campaign corresponding to next year.”
The office has endeavored to enhance the digital way, both to access the models and to make payments through electronic channels, stimulating the use of digital signatures and electronic payments by applying for those who pay their affidavit before February 28, a five percent discount for prompt payment, and if you also pay by Transfermóvil another three percent is discounted for the use of electronic channels.
