Holguín wins over Granma and continues to lead Group D

Holguin squad  won two of the three games vs Granma, at Mártires de Barbados stadium in Bayamo city, and remains leading Group D in the National U-18 (youth) baseball championship.

The victories of Holguin team took place on Saturday (4-1 and 11-3), while the local squad saved its honor after beating visitors on Sunday (5-4).

The other game of this group was dominated by Santiago de Cuba 2-1 over Guantánamo, with wins of 4-3 and 7-0 and a setback of 1-3.

At the conclusion of three sub-series, the standings of the National Youth Championship in Group D go as follow: Holguín (6-3), Santiago de Cuba (5-4), Granma (4-5) and Guantánamo (3-6).

Meanwhile, in the National U-15 (school) category this weekend, Holguin, Santiago de Cuba, Granma and Guantanamo (3-6).

On the other hand, in the National U-15 (school) category this weekend, Holguin, playin home, lost 1-2 to Granma.

On Saturday these teams split, the locals won the first match (7-4), to later losing (8-3), and on Sunday, Granma got a tied win over Holguin (9-8).

In this category, the team of Guantanamo continued its triumphant path by sweeping Santiago with scores of (3-1), (8-4) and (4-3).

Precisely, Guantanamo leads the standings of this category with a 7-2 record, followed by Granma (5-4), Santiago (4-5) and Holguín (2-7).

These national baseball championships for school children and youths are subject to Inder’s decision to stop the national events in progress and postpone those scheduled for the next few days due to the lack of fuel.
