A victory and a setback was the balance this Monday of the chess players from Holguin in the third round of the Eastern Chess tournament, held at Jose Raul Capablanca Academy in Santiago de Cuba.

The success went for FIDE Master Manuel Darío Ochoa, the player with the highest rating of the tournament with 2,399 points, over his counterpart from Granma, Yonisbel Rosabal, which allowed him to reach 2.0 units.

With this balance Manuel Darío moved up to the second position, half a unit behind the leader Evelio Amaurys Roll (Santiago de Cuba), and with a better tiebreaker than FMs César Alejandro Pérez and Mario Enrique Diéguez, both from Las Tunas, who also accumulated 2.0 points.

The current provincial champion of Holguin, Hector Luis Fuentes, bowed his king against Cesar Alejandro from Las Tunas and was left with 1.5 points in the ninth place, when the tiebreaker system was applied.

Until the 27th, 10 players will be playing in Santiago under the round-robin system, with their eyes set on one of the two tickets for the Absolute National Championship, which will begin on February 1 in Holguin.
