Two humanoid robots starred in an unprecedented wedding ceremony in Moscow today. In an event that sought to showcase the potential of advanced robotics and its integration into everyday life.
Also the unusual ceremony was held at the Pushkin Library in the Russian capital. Where the robots Robert, an office worker and content creator, and Matilda, a humanoid dancer, formalized a symbolic union.
Both were previously presented to the public during the 2026 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“Today we will witness a unique event: the first marriage ceremony between the humanoid robots Robert and Matilda. They are united not only by modern technologies, but also by shared values. Such as the pursuit of knowledge, development, and cooperation.” Declared the event’s presenter, Maria Pantyukhina, at the beginning of the ceremony.
During the event, the robots exchanged programmed vows of commitment. Robert assured Matilda that he would be a reliable partner through all of life’s algorithms. While she promised to inspire him toward new discoveries and preserve their connection through every cycle of time.
The symbolic exchange of rings included the participation of their “mascot”: the robot dog Dogmatik. Who presented the couple with the wedding bracelets.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the presenter officially declared Robert and Matilda “robot spouses.” After confirming “version compatibility, system synchronization, and the consent of both parties.”
According to Ana Bagdasarián, Deputy CEO of the robot development company IT-Imperial. These types of events help to highlight the complexity of humanoid robotics and demonstrate how these technologies can assist people.
“It is very important to emphasize that, in post-industrial society, the automation of work can free up a significant portion of human time and capabilities to dedicate to culture and greater harmony.” “Robotics also contributes to this process,” Bagdasaryan emphasized.
