“From Barcelona to Holguin” received a standing ovation

With exclamations of “Bravo, come back soon! the people of Holguin received the Spaniards Sergio Bonafonte Royo and Miriam Tello, in the concert “From Barcelona to Holguin“, in the Raul Camayd Hall, of the Commander Eddy Suñol Theater, in the Cuban city of parks.

In one hour “De Barcelona a Holguín” brought back typical Spanish themes, interpreted by the young singer Miriam Tello, with an interpretative force and a seductive image on stage, with iconic songs of the late Spanish singer Rocío Dúrcal and English versions of international songs.

Lucio Dalla’s “Caruso”, arrived with Sergio Bonafonte in the well-known Italian song “that Carusso wrote when he felt that his life was running out, next to his wife, a young woman 25 years younger than him and hugging her in front of the Gulf of Sorrentto, he wrote it”, expressed the artist before the concert.

To the applause of the audience the song “No puedo estar sin ti” of his own authorship was played.

Another significant moment was the interpretation of “La más bella niña”, together with Tello, Nadiel Mejías, and the Chamber Orchestra of Holguín, under the baton of maestro Orestes Saavedra, director of the Symphony Orchestra, in the accompaniment of the exquisite sound work of the poem set to music by Luis de Góngora, one of the poets of the Spanish Golden Century, as they are known.

Holguin-born singer Norberto Leyva showed up on the stage with songs created from his poetic compositions for which he received intense applause from the audience.

Benafonte expressed: “I have felt very comfortable, I really believe that yes, I will return next year. There are some joint projects with the Casa de Iberoamerica and Spain”.

Sergio Bonafonte Royo, born in Zaragoza, is an ophthalmologist doctor by profession, in Barcelona, Spain and is the owner of a clinic.

Music is a passion in his life with more than 100 songs composed and recorded. In 2006 he created his own record label where important artists of the international scene have performed.

In his peculiar musical style prevails interpretations of boleros and ballads.
