The National Audiovisual Festival Por Primera Vez, sponsored by the Provincial Film Center in the province of Holguin, presents the image of its XVI edition to be held from February 21 to 24, 2024, dedicated to film directing in Cuba.
The new image follows the concept of Marti movie-theater, host of the event, as the main element to be highlighted along with others that make reference to film directing, a concept developed by Oscar Gordillo, regular designer of this event since the XIV edition in 2021.
Por Primera Vez Festival, a support for the development of young creators
The graphic campaign for social networks highlights four workshops that strengthen the idea of making this festival a space for socializing experiences that nurture the knowledge of young filmmakers, who present themselves both in the pitch and in the Short Film Competition.
The Provincial Film Center works together with independent production companies such as i4films, with the production of Reymel Delgado, to achieve a high quality event, both in the workshops and in the exchanges with prominent directors and personalities who will participate as jurors.
The festival maintains in this edition the call for pitching, with the aim of consolidating the event as a fund to support young creators in the realization of audiovisual projects, to which various projects may be submitted.
The call also modifies the genres to compete, maintaining the limit of works with a duration of up to 24 minutes, and short fiction, documentary and animated films, video art and video clips may also be submitted.

Maylán Heredia Martínez, head of the Promotion Department of the Provincial Film Center, says that the call for entries is open until December 31… “we are already working on the conception of a successful festival that will contribute to the training of filmmakers and financial support for their work”.
The Por Primera Vez Festival seeks to consolidate the province of Holguin as one of the most important places in the country in terms of cinema, and to create an environment of support and improvement for young Cuban filmmakers.
