Holguin University Announces Enrollment for Higher Education Academic Year

The University of Holguin (UHo) announced the start of the enrollment process for the 2026-2027 academic year. For new students in undergraduate degree programs and short-cycle Higher Technical programs.

Due to the current energy situation in the country, the process will take place at the various territorial educational facilities. Including the main campus, as well as the corresponding Municipal University Centers and branches.

For students enrolled in daytime programs, the process will run from August 27th to September 1st.

Applicants residing in other municipalities of Holguin province will formalize their enrollment directly at their respective Municipal University Centers.

Among the required documents are an identity card, four 1×1 photos, original and copy of completed studies certificates. The reservation slip or Annex 1 for male applicants, and the duly signed socially useful work evaluation form.

For the blended learning and distance learning programs, students selected since June must complete their pending documentation. While those interested in available places may apply according to faculty availability.

For students entering the University of Computer Sciences (UCI). This year’s registration process combines a virtual phase from August 21st to 31st with a decentralized in-person confirmation.

Students must complete the online pre-registration through the portal admision.uci.cu. Also where they will upload their personal information and relevant documentation in digital format.

Subsequently, the in-person ratification of physical documentation will take place from September 1st to 11th. At the main campuses of the University of Holguin or its branches, without the need to travel to Havana.

Nationwide, the Ministry of Higher Education confirmed the start of the 2026-2027 academic year for September 1st at all university institutions.

Faced with the worsening fuel shortage and national economic restrictions. Higher Education has restructured its academic model, prioritizing a territorial approach, blended learning, and distance learning.

Classes will alternate between in-person instruction at main campuses, Municipal University Centers, and local production facilities. While students will actively participate in socioeconomic tasks and community initiatives in their municipalities of residence.
