The Holguin Botanical Garden will offer a free course for entrepreneurs and self-employed workers. As part of its efforts to promote science and technological innovation among new economic actors.
Ana María de la Cruz Fuxá, general director of the Center for Environmental Research and Services. To which the garden is affiliated, told the Cuban News Agency that the course will run for three weeks, between August and September.
She added that anyone over 18 years of age interested in learning about landscaping and gardening techniques. Also based on new technologies is welcome to participate.
The director noted that the course will cover topics. Such as environmental science, landscaping, floristry, and interior design. All aimed at fostering new businesses and employment opportunities, particularly among young people.
Moreover she indicated that the program has a practical component where students also become familiar with botanical areas. And critically endangered species listed in the Red Book of Cuban Vascular Flora.
Also these courses are part of the scientific and technical services offered by the garden. Which also include the rental of open spaces and the sale of ornamental plants. All maintained despite the energy crisis caused by the United States’ hostile policy toward the Caribbean island.
The Holguin Botanical Garden is located in the Mayabe Valley. About five kilometers from the city’s historic center, and has 12 sections where native and foreign species are cultivated.
