The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Cuba highlighted—via its Facebook page—the project “Strengthening the social-labor inclusion of adolescents and youth in vulnerable situations.” Aimed at expanding opportunities for individuals aged 15 to 24.
The initiative will be implemented between 2026 and 2029 in selected municipalities across Havana, Holguin, and Santiago de Cuba. The organization noted that the project aims to train and certify over 9,975 adolescents and young people. As well as facilitate employment for 2,494 individuals in inclusive workplaces.
During the recent launch event, representatives from institutions, associations, training centers, and employers discussed key challenges for the upcoming six-month agenda. These topics include flexible training, skills certification, the school-to-work transition, inclusive employment, and community awareness-raising.
Also the project is coordinated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, co-led by the Ministry of Education, and involves partnerships with the Federation of Cuban Women, regional associations, and local institutions.
According to UNICEF, moving toward a more inclusive society means recognizing capabilities. Breaking down barriers, and creating opportunities so that no limitation defines the potential of young people.
