New Yutong Buses Arrive in Holguin to Strengthen Interprovincial Transportation

Four modern Yutong buses were assigned to the province of Holguin as part of a batch of 20 units acquired by the Ministry of Transportation. With the aim of improving services connecting to the nation’s capital.

The official handover took place at the José María Pérez Capote terminal. In a ceremony commemorating Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. A driving force behind significant transformations in the transportation sector for the benefit of the population.

Eliécer González Aguilar, director of the National Buses Business Unit (UEB) in Holguin, explained that the new buses will serve the Holguin-Havana route. The decision stems from the high energy efficiency of these vehicles. A key factor in fuel savings on long-distance journeys, a priority in the current economic climate.

The buses have a capacity for 44 passengers, although only 42 seats will be available for purchase. The remaining two seats will be reserved for drivers to rest during the trip, thus ensuring safety and comfort. Departures are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 20:00

Since the arrival of the first Yutong buses in Cuba in 2005, this partnership has been crucial for national transportation. Currently, more than 9,000 units of this brand operate in the country. Making Cuba the Chinese company’s main international market.

Adapting the models to Cuban needs, with modifications to improve comfort for drivers and passengers. It has increased the operating efficiency ratio and reduced fuel consumption.

Holguin, one of the provinces farthest from the capital, receives these buses in a context where fleet replacement has faced difficulties. Due to the country’s complex economic situation and the tightening of the US economic blockade. Which limits the acquisition of spare parts and other supplies necessary for maintenance.

Nevertheless, the ingenuity of workers in the sector has allowed them to keep existing units operational. Also as demonstrated by the innovators who have managed to extend the lifespan of the Yutong engines.

This delivery provides relief for interprovincial transportation and reaffirms the Cuban government’s commitment to improving services for the population, despite the prevailing limitations.
