New Eco-Friendly Cars in Holguin to Prioritize Transporting Hemodialysis Patients

Amid the complex economic situation facing the country, exacerbated by the tightening of the US embargo. The province of Holguin took a significant step in terms of social impact. With the commissioning of the first batch of eco-friendly cars. Acquired through the Fund for the Development of Transportation in Cuba.

Present at the event were René Rodríguez Morales, delegate of the Ministry of Transportation in the province. Joel Rodríguez, director of the Taxis Cuba agency, as well as the drivers and other workers in the sector.

Moreover the main and priority mission of this fleet will be to guarantee the continuous and safe transport of patients. Requiring hemodialysis treatment several times a week at the two main hospitals in the provincial capital. The Vladimir Ilich Lenin General Teaching Hospital and the Lucía Íñiguez Landín Hospital.

Although the weekly hemodialysis program will begin with this fleet next Monday, August 17th. It was decided to conduct test runs with passengers on the two assigned routes to both health institutions starting this Friday. Allowing for verification of the service’s logistics.

In addition, and without neglecting its commendable public health mission, the fleet will provide transportation services to the residents of Holguin on the established routes. Helping to alleviate urban traffic congestion in the province.
