Iran Rejects Any Agreement That Does Not Respect the Rights of Its People

The Speaker of Parliament and head of Iran’s negotiating team, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf. He stated that Tehran will not accept any agreement in the ongoing negotiations with the United States. Until the rights of the Iranian people are fully guaranteed.

During a virtual session of Parliament, Qalibaf asserted that Iranian diplomacy aims to consolidate the nation’s achievements. Also to secure concrete benefits for its citizens, according to the official IRNA news agency.

The leader indicated that the negotiating team is acting cautiously and is not basing its decisions on promises or statements from the US side.

“Our goal is to achieve tangible results, and in return, we will fulfill our commitments. We will not accept any agreement until the rights of the Iranian people are guaranteed,” he stated.

Qalibaf also maintained that Washington is pursuing a policy of economic pressure and media campaigns. Aimed at weakening Iran’s national unity, although he believes these efforts will not achieve their objectives.

The statements come amid negotiations between Tehran and Washington aimed at reducing tensions and reaching agreements on various regional and bilateral issues.

Donald Trump set two conditions for ending the US offensive against Iran: the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran’s renunciation of any plans to develop nuclear weapons.

“First: the strait [of Hormuz] must be opened immediately and it has to be free. No tolls, etc. And second: they cannot have a nuclear weapon,” the US president stated this Saturday in an interview with Fox News.

In the event of a failure to reach a positive agreement with Iran diplomatically, Trump threatened to resolve the conflict “militarily.”

The negotiations are taking place after months of military tension between the two sides. Which included clashes and exchanges of attacks before the implementation of a temporary ceasefire reached on April 8th.

Observers believe that the outcome of these talks will be crucial for regional stability and the future of relations between Iran and the United States.
