The Romerías de Mayo Return to Holguin

The 33rd World Festival of Artistic Youth, Romerías de Mayo. It will return to Holguin from May 2nd to 8th. This time, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) and to the intellectual thought of Fidel Castro, on the occasion of his centennial.

Armando Ruiz Olivera, president of the AHS in the province, confirmed at a press conference that the event will maintain its usual venues. With the option of combining them. He also announced the presence of young artists from Havana, and artistic brigades from Santiago de Cuba and Granma.
The event also revealed that this year’s edition will feature a pre-pilgrimage concert by Holguin singer-songwriter Norberto Leyva. And a closing concert by Isaac Delgado.

The Cámara Azul space, dedicated this year to the complex’s centennial and the figure of Adela Legrá. So it will be held at the Cine Martí cultural complex.

Rock, rap, and electronic music will be featured at Gabinete Caligary. While La Casa de la Trova will host activities focused on the genre. Including a celebration of another anniversary of La Feria de los Trovadores. Musical performances will also take place at the market across from the AHS (Hermanos Saíz Association).

Moreover the Memoria Nuestra Thought Congress and Award for young researchers will include lectures by Fidel Castro’s biographer, Katiuska Blanco, and the national president of the AHS, Yasel Toledo Sánchez.
The event “Shared Words,” dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the publication of José Lezama Lima’s *Paradiso*, will feature talks, readings, and presentations of four new books. All taking place in the “Opening the Constellations” Hall at Ediciones La Luz.

“Babel,” an event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Provincial Center for Visual Arts and the pedagogical work of José Aguilar. It will feature five exhibitions, some with innovative proposals, such as “The Coffee Route.”

The organizing committee of this major event is keen to forge connections with events in other provinces of the country. Such as the “Antonio Lloga In Memoriam” Youth Radio Workshop and Competition. Which will announce its call for entries during the Romerías de Mayo festival.
