4th Gathering of Paper Artists Concludes in Holguin

An exhibition of works created during the creative workshops marked the conclusion of the 4th Gathering of Paper Artists. Held as part of the 32nd Ibero-American Culture Festival in the province of Holguin.

Manuel Arias Silveira, director of the *Cuadernos Papiro* imprint, highlighted this Thursday how the forum provided an opportunity to spark interest in the full potential of paper. Bring art closer to new generations, and awaken their curiosity regarding manual papermaking techniques.

He added that the event served as a significant platform for reflecting on creative processes in a city like Holguin. A place whose cultural path has been shaped by contact and dialogue.

Arias Silveira noted that the works bore the marks of their origins. An event defined by the exchange of experiences among creators and educators. As well as the development of a new generation attuned to the aesthetic, cultural, and environmental value inherent in papermaking.

Jessica Hernández Guio, a student at the “El Alba” Regional Academy of Visual Arts, remarked that the four-day event offered new knowledge and experiences. That enriched her artistic training in this instance, through the technique of handmade papermaking.

Lían Dalé Hernández Jardines, another participant, noted the value of an event that broadened the scope of artistic training and practice. Featuring experiments and lessons that combined the use of photographs with natural elements.

The 4th Gathering of Paper Artists brought together creators and researchers at the “El Alba” Regional Academy of Visual Arts. Further establishing the region as a hub for experimenting with traditional techniques within the context of Latin American culture.
