Call for Applications to Higher Education in Holguin

The Holguin Provincial Commission for Higher Education Admission has officially announced the call for applications. For all citizens interested in pursuing university studies through the competitive entrance exam and Order 18 pathways.

The registration process for the 2026-2027 academic year will begin on April 20th. Marking the start of a crucial stage for applicants in the province.

Also to facilitate the process, specific locations have been designated based on the applicants’ place of residence.

In the municipality of Moa, registration will take place at the General Secretariat of the University of Moa. For residents of the municipality of Holguin, it will be at the Enrique José Varona Pre-University Institute.

In the other municipalities, applicants can go to the Ministry of Higher Education’s University Center or Branch in their locality.

Those interested must meet two fundamental requirements: have completed upper secondary education. And be no older than 28 years of age at the time of registration.

For those opting for the Order 18 route, it is essential to be listed on the official lists issued by the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR).

A key aspect of this call for applications is territorial commitment. Upon completing the official application form. So each applicant must formalize their willingness to study their chosen degree program in the province of Holguin. A measure focused on addressing the demand for professionals required for local development.

In this context, the Ministry of Higher Education recently announced the postponement of the entrance exams. For a total of 96,305 places in the national program of degree programs available for the next academic year.

The exams will now be held on the following dates: Friday, June 5th, Mathematics; Tuesday, June 9th, Spanish; and Friday, June 12th, Cuban History.

It is important to remember that, under the principle of universal access. Passing the exams is not mandatory to obtain a place. As there are openings for all applicants. However, academic performance remains the priority criterion for securing a place in the desired program.
