The museums of Holguin province offer a wide summer program, which has among its main objectives the formation of values and the preservation of customs and traditions.
These centers, distributed in several municipalities, have activities such as guided visits, book presentations and screening of audiovisual materials, mainly focused on teenagers and young people.
Sites such as the Major General Calixto García’s Birthplace, the Lieutenant Governor’s House and the La Periquera Provincial History Museum, also have interest circles and community interventions in vulnerable neighborhoods.
Rosabel Reyes, a specialist in this area, pointed out that these meetings are part of the options for sound recreation and are intended to contribute to the teaching of history and expand the offers for the enjoyment of the family.
She emphasized that collections of aboriginal artifacts of great patrimonial value are also presented to the public, which also bring visitors closer to the pre-Columbian history of the locality.
The patrimonial values shown in the facilities also exhibit the life of heroes and martyrs, musical scores, documents prior to the 19th century and objects representative of the customs of the region.
Holguin has more than 300 buildings and patrimonial sites, of which 100 belong to the system of squares of the provincial capital, nicknamed the Cuban City of the Parks.
