The Inejiro Asanuma (Gihilan) Spinning Mill, located in the municipality of Gibara in Holguin province, won the second place in the Quality Award for its 100 percent cotton yarn at the Cubaindustria 2024 Fair, which recently closed in Havana.
This product is made with advanced technologies, certified by the ISO 9001 standards of 2015, which endorse it as a leader in the social object of that entity, located 30 kilometers from the provincial capital.
Duniet Bruceta Leyva, general director of the company, declared exclusively to ACN that this recognition is a great pride for the work collective and the people of Gibare.
She also pointed out that the award endorses more than 60 years of experience in the textile industry, the application of circular economy and the development of environmentally friendly productions.
She emphasized that the company has also been able to reuse all waste and surpluses in order to generate new goods for sales to the population.
The Inejiro Asanuma Spinning Mill was created on May 21, 1961, promoted by Ernesto Che Guevara, as one of the first entities founded by the Ministry of Industries of the nascent Cuban Revolution, and also has mattress workshops and plastic productions.
Among the merits received by its collective of workers are the second degree Lázaro Peña Order and the Holguín Axe, awarded by the Council of State and the Provincial Government, respectively, to work centers or people with outstanding contributions to the economic and social development.
It also has a movement of innovators in charge of maintaining the vitality of the machines and reducing the import of components and spare parts limited by the effects of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
