Information Sciences Award in Holguin

Researcher Ana Gloria Gonzalez Ochoa received Holguin Provincial Award of Information Sciences, the highest recognition granted in the eastern territory to outstanding professionals in the field of Librarianship.

The award, granted this Friday at the closing of the 15th edition of Expociencia, is conferred annually to specialists with merits in teaching and contributions to content management and the use of new technologies, Leonardo Nieves, president of the association, told ACN Leonardo Nieves.

He also pointed out that González Ochoa is the director of Banes Municipal Library, where she contributes to the formation of new generations, environmental protection and the formation of values, among other priority areas.

Leonardo García Morales, professor of the University of Holguín, with a vast experience as researcher of the local culture and bibliographic heritage, was also recognized.

As part of the closing day, the achievements of eight entities of the territory were highlighted for the inclusion of technological innovation in their processes, among them the University of Medical Sciences of Holguin and accrediting diplomas were given to entities that incorporate these branches to their productions.

Expociencia 2024 was held on April 10, 11 and 12 at the Expo-Holguín Fairgrounds and as part of the program, conferences and workshops were held with the participation of more than 2,000 students from different fields of study.

Since 2008, this event gathers professionals from the sector to socialize researches that contribute to the resolution of economic and social problems in the province, Cuba’s third largest populated province, with more than one million inhabitants.
