Scientific contributions and technological innovation in the health system in Holguin province were highlighted as part of the conference program of the 15th edition of Expociencia, the main theoretical and expository event in the eastern territory.
Yanexy Pérez González, director of this branch at the University of Medical Sciences of Holguín, told ACN that these achievements are focused on strengthening scientific training for the development of the territories and the improvement of the population’s quality of life.
She also commented that, based on research, they promote access to medicines, the use of new technologies, the improvement of the Family Doctor and Nurse Program, among other issues included in government projects.
She highlighted that in the last five years, problems such as teenage pregnancy, population aging and chronic and non-communicable diseases have been studied with a multidisciplinary approach and procedures for their generalization.
The importance of new technologies in education and the creation of local food systems to contribute to self-consumption and self-sufficiency of social institutions were also discussed on Thursday.
Within the exhibition area, there were also clubs of interest in sports, health, culture, environment and the expo-sale of ornamental plants and handicraft products, as part of the collateral program of the event.
Likewise, more than 100 state institutions and self-employed workers, grouped in the Expo-Holguín Fairgrounds, promote cooperation and the reuse of idle inventories, in order to contribute to the substitution of imports and offer value-added goods and services.
Expociencia, that concluded this Friday, is the main event for socialization of technological innovation in the eastern region, with an exhibition character.
