From today in Holguin, Youth Theater Festival

The 14th National Youth Theater Festival, organized by the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS) in Holguin, returns today to the Cuban city of parks to offer, until March 24, a wide program of performances, theoretical spaces and exchanges with specialized critics.

On this occasion, the event will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Teatro de las Estaciones, the 25th anniversary of Teatro Tuyo and the 85th anniversary of the Complejo Cultural Teatro Comandante Eddy Suñol, its usual venue.

Yasser Velázquez, organizer of the event, said at a press conference that “Teatro Tuyo will be represented by students of the National Clown School, while for Las Estaciones, designer Zenén Calero and children’s theater director Rubén Darío Salazar, National Theater Awards 2020 and Masters of Youth of the AHS, will prestige the Festival”.

The actor also explained that, in addition to the companies honored, Teatro El Portazo (Matanzas), Teatro Rumbo (Pinar del Río), Teatro sobre el camino (Santa Clara), La caja negra (Santiago de Cuba), and Teatro Guiñol de Holguín will also be present.

Most of the presentations of Teatro Joven will take place in the halls of the Eddy Suñol, although the Casa de Iberoamérica and the Cine Martí will be collateral venues.

As for spaces for reflection and dialogue, the program proposes a panel on the imprint of Teatro de Las Estaciones in its 30 years of work, as well as a workshop on the dismantling of the stagings, in charge of critics and directors of the invited companies.

Also, the theater titles “Teoría de las flores salvajes”, by Katherine Perzant; “Medea”, by Iran Capote and “Blanco”, by Nelson Beatón will be presented.

With the National Youth Theater Festival, the AHS promotes the encounter of young directors, playwrights and actors and ratifies Holguin as a strong place for the confluence of the arts.
