Holguin trade unions support social and economic tasks

As part of the activities prior to the XXII Congress of the Cuban Workers’ Confederation (CTC), the trade union movement in Holguin has increased its voluntary productive work.

According to Yaritza Palacios, member of the Provincial Secretariat of the CTC, more than 382 thousand pesos have been collected so far this year for agricultural tasks and extended working days in industries.

Agricultural centers throughout this eastern province, seed farms, self-consumption areas and vegetable gardens have benefited from the hands of hundreds of workers, aware of the complex economic situation the country is going through.

Likewise, sanitation tasks have been carried out in neighborhoods and production in cooperative farms and vegetable gardens has been strengthened.

More than 10,500 workers have enrolled in actions of importance for the local economy in support of the sugar harvest and work in farms, the manufacture of sausages in the Acuanipe and the folding of notebook folds in the Poligráfico José Miró Argenter, just to mention a few examples.

The volunteer weekend days are also conceived within the fundamental actions in salute to May Day, International Workers’ Day, date for which the 15 unions of Holguín are preparing.

The CTC plays a fundamental role in the economic-social transformation of the country with the generation of goods and services that allow increasing the offers to the population.
