The scientific debate on topics related to rheumatology flowed in digital platforms for a month, until this November 12, as part of the VIII ReumaHlg Scientific Conference.
The event, held virtually, was attended by 115 professionals in this and other related fields, from countries such as Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Cuba, Timor Leste, Bolivia and Angola.
The meeting was convened to update knowledge on the development of the specialty in Cuba and in Holguin province and to promote the development of new research projects, at the same time that it is part of the activities for the 25th anniversary of the 25th anniversary of Lucía Iñiguez Landín Clinical Hospital, anniversary to be celebrted on November 28th.
According Dr. Alberto Alberteris Rodriguez, one of the people in charge of the development of the event, in his capacity as President of the Provincial
of the Provincial Chapter of the Cuban Society of Rheumatology, “as part of this event, papers were published on the platform set up for this purpose, related to rheumatologic ailments affecting the Cuban population today.
The conference constituted an important space for dialogue to reach consensus on the most effective treatments for conditions of this nature such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, gout or osteoarthritis, among others, thus generating a favorable impact on the quality of life of patients.
In addition, topics related to rheumatic and degenerative autoimmune diseases, morbidity of rheumatic diseases in Primary Health Care, the use of Imaging in their diagnosis and treatment, Molecular Biology and anthropometric studies and the most used procedures from Natural and Traditional Medicine were the focus of the debate.
Today it is a premise to guarantee the training of future rheumatology professionals, as a guarantee to offer a better quality in the care of those afflicted with related diseases. In this sense, there is a considerable growth in the number of residents of this specialty, coming from the provinces of Holguin, Granma and La Tunas.
