Cuban Radio Festival in Holguin where Maestros speak out

The Cuban Radio has been celebrating since last Monday the National Festival, which is taking place in the city of Holguin.

At the official opening of the event, in the Hall of Flags of the Provincial Museum of History “La Periquera”, converged several generations of radio broadcasters, accompanied by the director of the media in the country, Yuzaima Cardona Villena, along with students of Social Communication and Journalism of the University of Holguin and the Faculty of Media Arts of the University of the Arts, in its local branch.

The director of Cuban Radio expressed that it is a great achievement, after 13 years, to recover this important event, while she thanked Holguin, its creators and authorities, who with their efforts have made this long-awaited meeting a reality.

Cardona Villena said that “the Festival is a fraternal and family event where we can embrace each other and experience motivations to continue getting closer to our audiences; we have not conquered everything, times are changing, technologies are bursting, but the radio gets adapted to be masters of the story and histories”.

From last Monday, ten radio broadcasters with the status of National Awards, still active, and seven directors with the category of PhD. in Communication Sciences, prestige this festival in representation of 86 percent of the territorial radio stations that continue to be the most loved by listeners.

The outstanding producer of Radio Progreso, Orieta Cordeiro González-Ferregut, National Radio Award, in her exchange with those present at La Periquera said that “we must love and feel the radio, in general Cuban Radio”.

On her part, Caridad Martínez González, also producer of “Onda de la alegría” and who shares the status of Cordeiro Award, said that “the radio environment is her life, home, her family and that if one does not feel like an artist, you should not be part of the radio, it is a necessary demand for all times”.

In keeping with the 100th anniversary of radio in Cuba, the National Festival honors creative talent and encourages audience participation in the development of this popular means of communication.
