Cuban Radio at Festival: creation, diversity and challenges

Cuban radio is in Festival and Holguin is the national headquarters of this contest that has returned after 13 years of absence to ratify that in this means of communication all voices are represented.

More than 600 works are competing in different themes, formats and radio categories. Undoubtedly, this event, from November 13 to 17, is an opportunity to reward talent and effort in radio production under adverse economic conditions.

It is also an important measure of the management and quality of content, the educational effectiveness of the radio message and the creative capacity to tell the news.

It is also a meeting for the exchange of experiences among producers, a special occasion to share with renowned personalities of this medium with more than a century of history.

Its celebration takes place just a few days after the conclusion of the XI Congress of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) and the IV Congress of the Saíz Brothers Association (AHS), events that have been aligned to strengthen the communicational culture and suggest new ways of thinking and creating in the artistic and journalistic exercise in the midst of the current complex media scenario and the transformations of Cuban society.

The National Radio Festival goes beyond awards, recognitions and motivations, it is a space where ideas and knowledge are exchanged with innovative capacity and social commitment so that the radio continues to be an effective, reliable and credible tool in the face of the globalization of information and the reality of today’s Cuba.

It will also allow documenting experiences and experiences and will point out the route of the necessary changes to achieve, from the microphones, greater citizen participation and editorial coherence in tune with the current situation and the interests of the audience.

Its realization promotes the plurality of radio in society and defends a more participatory and multidirectional communication management.
