Radio and its evolution on the Internet at National Festival

Internet radio was the focus of the debate on the third day of the National Festival of this means of communication held from November 13 to 17 in the city of Holguin.

The presentation “Radio creation in non-conventional spaces, the case of the Internet” by Salome Campanioni of Radio Cubana gave way to this analysis taking into account the advances of Information and Communication Technologies and the current trends of online radio transmissions.

Alicia Sosa Velázquez, director of the Provincial Radio System in Camagüey, warned about the urgent editorial and training needs of the radio and proposed the creation of a group, at national level, that from science develops projects to solve this situation.

Despite these urgencies, Campanioni presented the achievements of Radio Cubana on the Internet, which began its insertion in the network of networks since 1997; since that date he pointed out the milestones in the digital radio format.

Since 2013 the radio has had its web system, through the portal www.radiocubana.cu and tveo.cu 100 stations anchored to these platforms can be listened to by streaming, which also have profiles on the social network X and Facebook.

Since its digital format, the radio has maintained the premise of being the most immediate means to inform about relevant news events of general interest.

The need to exploit Internet resources such as on-demand radio, podcasts and the use of social networks to promote different radio programs also emerged.

Although podcasts continue to be a pending issue in radio broadcasting, positive experiences were reported in some radio stations in the country, among them Radio Angulo.
