Holguin Wrapper Processing Unit Celebrates Ten Years

In the delicate and patient art of processing tobacco leaves, every detail counts. With this premise as its guiding principle, the Basic Business Unit (UEB) for Wrapper Processing, Classification, and Distribution celebrated its tenth anniversary. Also having established itself as a key production link within the Tobacco Collection, Processing, and Rolling Company in the province of Holguin.

The commemorative event served as an opportunity to review the achievements of ten years of uninterrupted work. And reaffirm the collective commitment to maintaining productive efficiency. The opening remarks highlighted how, throughout this period, the workers have diligently and ingeniously faced diverse organizational and resource challenges. Supported by a genuine sense of belonging and work commitment that directly contributes to the quality of the exported product.

Moreover the event was presided over by Yaili Rey Velázquez, general director of the Holguin Tobacco Collection, Processing, and Rolling Company. Along with members of the company’s management council. Including Idael Cruz Morales, director of Human Resources; Claudia Álvarez Cruz, director of Development. Lurdes Colon Cobas, director of Agriculture. The support of the labor movement was evident in the presence of Leonardo Aguilera González, provincial secretary of the Union of Agricultural, Forestry, and Tobacco Workers.

Following Martí’s principle that “To honor is to be honored,” the celebration dedicated a central space to recognizing the individual contributions. Of those who maintain daily quality in the sorting sheds and support areas. Accompanied by the secretary of the entity’s union section, Odalkis Sánchez Velázquez, the directors presented awards to the most outstanding workers of the period in each of their specialties.

At the closing ceremony, Tomas Lauzao Gallardo, director of the UEB (Basic Business Unit). He presented a summary of the unit’s key performance indicators during its first ten years. Also he emphasized that the entity’s main challenge moving forward remains maintaining high quality standards for wrappers. An essential guarantee for preserving the prestige of the Cuban tobacco industry in both international and domestic markets.
