More than 1,500 professionals graduated today from the University of Holguin (UHo), the University of Oriente (UO), and the University of Computer Sciences of Havana (UCI). In a ceremony held in this northeastern province.
Aniuska Ortiz Pérez, rector of UHo, congratulated the graduates on their achievements in a challenging context for the country. With special recognition for the honorees, who stood out for their dedication to their studies and their contribution to academic prestige. As well as for their families, for their essential role during their education.
At the ceremony, held at the Bariay Recreational Center, recognition was given to a group of top graduates, Gold Medal recipients, and Scientific Merit Awards. From all faculties of the university in the province and from the other institutions. These graduates will contribute to the fields of science, literature, education, and physical culture.
The rector emphasized that the ceremony marked the end of one stage and the beginning of new challenges. Which involve giving back to society with the knowledge acquired. Contributing to the nation’s economic and social development.
Ortiz Pérez added that the university will always keep its doors open for professional development through master’s and doctoral programs. She urged the students to continue their postgraduate studies.
She also thanked the faculty and staff for their contribution to the educational process. From teaching and research to university outreach, logistics, and scholarships.

During the event, approximately 230 Gold Diplomas and 93 Scientific Merit Awards were granted to students in the daytime, part-time, short-cycle, and distance learning programs. More than 20 of these awards went to students from sister universities who returned to their campuses due to the complexities of the energy situation.
The celebratory event was attended by Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary of that political organization in the province. Yunia Pérez Hernández, vice-governor of Holguin. As well as representatives from entities such as the Vértice Design and Engineering Services Company. The Center for Local Development Studies, and the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Tourism.
As part of the celebrations, the University of Holguin, comprised of four campuses and nearly 40 degree programs. It will hold graduation ceremonies in the coming days at each Municipal Center within its territorial network.
