Solar Energy Strengthens Telecommunications Infrastructure

In a context marked by the worsening national energy crisis and recurring power outages. The Holguin Territorial Telecommunications Division (DTHO) is promoting strategic investments. Aimed at minimizing disruptions and ensuring the continued availability of its services to the population. As part of the country’s energy matrix shift. The entity is committed to using solar energy to guarantee the continuity of key services. Such as landline telephone and internet access through Nauta Home.

At the end of April, the DTHO successfully completed the installation of seven photovoltaic panel modules allocated to the Holguin region. The implementation of these systems directly strengthens the province’s technological infrastructure. Also benefiting a total of 5,467 landline telephone customers and more than 800 data transmission service users.

The new hybrid systems have a power output of 2 kW and consist of photovoltaic panels, inverters, and battery banks. This technology allows for energy autonomy that can extend for several hours. Even reach 24 consecutive hours, depending on the day’s weather conditions.

Moreover the fundamental purpose of this investment is to safeguard the services located in the beneficiary areas. In turn, leverage the technical stability to boost the marketing of high-value exportable services, such as Nauta Home Plus.

The implementation of this system was the result of collaborative work between specialists. From the company’s Investment and Network Operations Departments. Emilio Guerrero Lengarán, head of the Investment Department, highlighted the strong commitment of the personnel. Involved in these efforts and emphasized the importance of each action in maintaining the quality of service to the people in the beneficiary areas.

Moreover the development strategy doesn’t stop here. According to reports, the Territorial Division has been allocated an additional 31 higher-capacity solar panels (3.6 and 7.2 kW). Which will be installed at radio base stations throughout the province as conditions allow.

Although sector authorities acknowledge that the installation of these initial modules does not cover all the sites requiring backup power in Holguin’s complex geography. Their commitment to continue increasing the use of green energy remains strong. Given the current fuel shortage for traditional electricity generation. Also the DTHO will continue to apply sound technical and organizational criteria in its decision-making. To maximize the use of every resource allocated to the territory.
