Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, strongly condemned the attack on a Venezuelan oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea, perpetrated by the United States Armed Forces.
Futhermore on social media, the head of state emphasized that this action constitutes an act of piracy. A violation of international law, and an escalation of aggression against the South American nation.
Díaz-Canel expressed Cuba’s full support for the recent statement by the Venezuelan government. Denouncing the attack and defending its sovereignty, natural resources, and national dignity.
Moreover the statement highlights that in these circumstances, the true reasons for the prolonged aggression against Venezuela have been revealed: “It is not migration, drug trafficking, democracy or human rights.” “It was always about our natural wealth, our oil, our energy, the resources that belong exclusively to the Venezuelan people.”
Also the statement announced that the Bolivarian Government will appeal to all existing international bodies to denounce this grave international crime.
So the island’s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, reaffirmed his rejection of the escalating aggression against the Bolivarian nation. And clarified that this attack “contravenes the rules of free trade and freedom of navigation, in blatant violation of international law.”
In conclusion according to the statement issued by the Bolivarian government, this new and extremely serious step. In the escalation of aggression comes after the announcement of the U.S. National Security Strategy. Which seeks to reaffirm, 200 years later, the abominable Monroe Doctrine.
