The Cuban Telecommunications Company (Etecsa) is installing 15 new base stations in areas of Holguin without prior access to the 4G network to improve mobile phone service in the province.
Darquiris Sánchez Castro, head of the company’s sales department in the province, informed CNA that these stations operate on a 2100 MHz Carrier. Which, compared to the previous 1800 MHz stations, doubles the access speed in the same locations.
He emphasized that mobile telephony is the main line, with the greatest impact and the one that generates approximately 80 percent of income. In addition to being the service contracted by more than 600,000 residents of Holguin.
The distribution of the new equipment responds to demand and the physical characteristics of the localities. Reaching areas such as Velasco, in Gibara; Levisa, in Mayari; Los Angeles, in Banes; and Fray Benito, in Rafael Freyre. Among others, where there was previously no 4G network.
