Ceproniquel takes advantage of production waste in Moa

The Nickel Engineering and Projects Company (Ceproniquel), located in the municipality of Moa in the province of Holguin, takes advantage of production waste as part of the circular economy programs that contribute to the protection of the environment.

Eriolis Vega Matos, a specialist in the area in that entity, told CNA that as a result of this strategy, leftover sheets from the graphic services provided by that industry are recycled. Which have a new use value for works and handicrafts in the Armando Mestre elementary school.

He pointed out that diaries and teaching aids are also made for children’s circles and hospitals as a way of supporting educational plans in social institutions.

In addition, other inputs are reused, such as plastic and cardboard, which have been used to make maracas, cars, educational games. The results of science and technology events and creative hands workshops, said the expert.

As part of the environmental protection programs, he said, the industry promotes reforestation work with species endemic to the region and is linked to the Ecoarte community project.

At the same time, the entity maintains its corporate purpose of coordinating the actions of the Cubaniquel Business Group, with high quality standards established for the exploitation of the mineral.

Ceproniquel, whose collective has been recognized with the status of National Vanguard, maintains since its foundation 39 years ago a sustained work in the preservation of the environment through measures focused on pollution reduction, waste recycling and environmental education.
