
The Provincial Radio Festival in Holguin, with a jury composed of renowned radio broadcasters. Honored outstanding producers in the region’s radio system and recognized their talent, creativity, and commitment to high-quality programming.
During the April 28-30 competition, more than 120 works were evaluated in 10 categories that demonstrated innovation and professional skills in radio content production. As well as the ingenuity and passion of young people in radio creation.
At the awards ceremony, presided over by Joel Queipo Ruiz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province. Individual specialties were highlighted in the competition. Including screenwriting, directing, male and female voice-overs, acting, drama narration, and sound production, as well as musical, various, dramatized, propaganda, and internet productions.
Some of the awards for each specialty were those for best broadcast, this time to César Hidalgo Torres of Radio Angulo and Yarima Vargas of Radio Banes. While Amalio Carralero of CMKO was recognized for musical composition; and Edgar Rodríguez of Radio Juvenil was recognized for recording and editing.
The Provincial Radio Festival also recognized the best exponents of news programs and genres, including the report “El CIRAH: Refuge of Light and Hope,” by journalist Mailyn Betancourt Verdecia of Radio Angulo.
The commentary “Los dolores de una tierra de azúcar,” by Maykel Cordero of Radio SG. The radio documentary “El túnel de la Periquera, una leyenda de amor,” by Libán Espinosa and Jhon Fernández of Radio Holguin; and the newscast De Primera Mano, by CMKO.
Prominent journalist Emilio Rodríguez Pupo won the award for best journalistic coverage on social media for his series on the Corúa 5 photovoltaic park in the municipality of Mayari. Among the most award-winning stations were Radio Banes and Radio Angulo. Which received multiple awards in different categories.
Meanwhile, the municipal radio station Radio Holguin received top prizes in the categories of special topics, specific audiences, and music programs, with the programs “Evocaciones,” “Los niños preguntan,” and “De vuelta al acetato,” respectively.
This radio event is a prelude to the 36th edition of the National Festival. To be held soon in the province of Camagüey, a space that will bring together prominent radio producers from across the country.
