The Holguin Cubs concluded their series against the Granma Alazanes with a narrow 4-3 loss. Leaving the matchup tied at two wins apiece early in the 65th National Baseball Series.
During the fourth game at Mayor General Calixto García Stadium. Right-handers Jesús Enrique Pérez and Sammy Benítez engaged in a fierce starting-pitcher duel, a fact reflected in the scoreline.
The Alazanes took the lead in the third inning, capitalizing on an error by shortstop Luis Raúl Domínguez. Combined with a single from Leonardo Alarcón and a double from Yuliesky Remón.
However, in the fifth inning, Lugdis Pineda’s squad leveled the score thanks to a home run by Nelson Batista.
An inning later, the Cubs struck back to take the lead, capitalizing on a lack of control from starter Sammy Benítez and an Edward Magaña single to plate two runs.
With the home team leading, the Alazanes faced reliever Luis Cácer in the eighth inning and scored three runs to turn the game around. Driven by a double from Roel Santos, who tallied three hits in the contest.
Consequently, the Granma Alazanes and the Holguin Cubs find themselves tied in the middle of the standings with two wins each at the start of the 65th National Series.
