Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, in his capacity as a member of the Cuban Parliament. Attended an extraordinary session of the People’s Power Assembly in the Holguin municipality of Gibara.
The session’s main agenda item was the appointment of new authorities to lead the municipal body. As part of strengthening its structure and in accordance with the personnel policy, according to the delegates.
As a result of the vote, Sonia Adelaida Chacón Fernández was elected president and Alexei Lorenzo Leyva vice president of the Municipal Assembly.
Chacón Fernández, also a member of Parliament for this district, reaffirmed her commitment to the electorate to improving the management of People’s Power. Addressing citizens’ complaints and requests, and promoting programs aimed at improving the quality of life for the people.
In her remarks, delegate Evelina del Rosario Arias Tapia conveyed support for this election and emphasized the need for close dialogue with the delegates.
Also participating as guests at the working session were Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province. And Manuel Hernández Aguilera, governor of Holguin, among other local authorities.
