The main studio of CMKO Radio Angulo hosted the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the station’s first broadcast on Saturday, August 1st.
Producers, journalists, announcers, and loyal listeners of the station in the City of Parks witnessed a cultural gala. That honored the different generations who have worked, day after day, to bring news and entertainment to every home in Holguin through a diverse programming schedule.

From the voices of Iris Torres and Aniel Santiesteban. Young journalists belonging to one of the many generations trained at the station. The history of CMKO was reviewed, and the work of important figures. Such as Emma García, Néstor Salazar, and Ernesto Rondón Jorge was highlighted.

Natalia Díaz Riverón, the station’s director, and renowned producer César Hidalgo Torres shared their experiences. Reflecting on their years of service to the station and on the campaign for Radio Angulo’s anniversary, “90 Years Connecting Generations.”

The celebration also featured the Holguin Winegrowers Club. As well as performances by Holguin artists Iram Arencibia, the AEDO Duo. And singer-songwriter Norberto Leyva, all with strong ties to the station.

Local organizations such as the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC). The Union of Young Communists (UJC), and the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC in the Spanish acronym). Took the opportunity to recognize CMKO Radio Angulo. And its staff for their work over the past nine decades.

CMKO Radio Angulo has earned a place in Holguin’s cultural heritage. For its continued role as a vital voice in Cuban media. Connecting generations and adapting to changing times.
