Comprehensive Childcare Prioritized in Holguin

Early childhood care in Holguin incorporates strategies to promote the comprehensive development of children. Through actions that benefit non-institutional settings and emphasize vulnerability.

With more than eight thousand children enrolled in daycare centers and preschools. Current educational efforts prioritize activities that serve as pedagogical tools to assess and prepare children. Facilitating their transition to primary school with the necessary skills. Yaima Cruz de la Cruz, head of the department at the General Directorate of the sector, told the Cuban News Agency (CNA).

Among the new initiatives are projects and English language preparation. As part of the guidelines of the Third Improvement Plan for the sector. This practice is being extended to non-institutional settings through the “Educate Your Child” program. Which is present in all 165 community councils of the province.

This effort reaches specific contexts such as homes for children without family support and primary schools that serve children in their sixth year. Also where the new curriculum and updated diagnostic assessments are being implemented.

Cruz de la Cruz pointed out that the institution maintains close methodological support for childcare centers, which are part of the self-employed sector.

Through promoters and educators, the quality of education is ensured across all management models. Enabling staff to receive training and official certification. Under a system of continuous guidance that guarantees the children’s proper preparation.

Moreover the director added that the educational work is also linked to the centennial celebration of Fidel Castro Ruz’s birth. Through research projects on cultural decolonization that serve as a methodological reference for the Ministry of Education.

With a particular impact on the municipalities of Cueto, Holguin, and Sagua de Tanamo. So the initiative focuses on studying the life and work of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution. Fostering moral values in children, as well as love and respect for the heroes of the nation.

For the development of these programs, the sector relies on the Federation of Cuban Women and the Justice and Labor and Social Security agencies. Which contribute to assisting children in vulnerable situations. These efforts are complement by international collaboration projects. Primarily from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
