Last Monday began the process of programmed maintenance of unit one at Lidio Ramón Pérez thermoelectric plant, in Felton, in the municipality of Mayarí.
The works are planned for 25 days and their main objective is the recovery of the boiler, informed engineer Orlando Castro Gámez, director of the Maintenance Business Unit of the aforementioned industry.
The works include the replacement of several sectors of the furnace walls, which have deteriorated due to the passage of time and the extreme working conditions to which they are subjected to, as well as the recovery of the regenerative air heater (CAR) B, which was damaged by a minor fire in 2022.
According to Castro Gámez, the current state of some sectors of the boiler walls, super tube structures, forced to keep the unit below 225 MW of generation during the last weeks.
Felton’s unit one had in February 2023 one of the most important technical maintenances, focused on turbine areas and especially in improvements of the bearings, which until today maintain normal operating values.
Eric Milanés Quinzán, general director of the Lidio Ramón Pérez thermoelectric plant, said that in addition to the cleaning of the convective shaft, the change of the boiler register and the recovery of the CAR B, the condenser will be cleaned and the industry’s components will undergo integral verification.
