This Saturday took place the plenary session of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Holguin, presided over by comrade Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party; Humberto Camilo Hernández Suárez, member of the PCC Central Committee and Head of its Department of Cadre Policy, also participated.
The plenary, after recognizing Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez’s performance at the head of the Prty organization, agreed, at the request of the Political Bureau, to release him as First Secretary of that Committee. He will be assigned other responsibilities in the auxiliary structure of the Central Committee.
In his place, Joel Queipo Ruiz was elected, who previoulsy was a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party and Head of its Economic and Production Department.
Queipo Ruiz, 52 years old, has a degree in Nuclear Physics, a specialty in which he also completed a Master’s Degree.
He has accumulated 28 years of experience in political leadership, initially in the Young Communist League (UJC) where he became first secretary of the provincial committee in Havana and member of the UJC National Bureau in charge of the ideological sphere.
In the Party he has moved upwards with positive results in his work, assuming the position of first secretary of the municipal committee and member of the Provincial Bureau until being promoted to the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party. He is a Deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power.
Members of the Provincial Committee recognized the link that Queipo Ruiz has maintained with the province in complex moments such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
In this way, the Comprehensive Strategy for the policy of cadres approved by the VIII Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba continues to be fulfilled.
When making the conclusions of the meeting, comrade Roberto Morales Ojeda pointed out the priorities of the Party’s work in 2024 and the importance for the country of its adequate implementation in Holguín.
